Fear is a thief. It steals glory that belongs to God by robbing us of opportunities to grow. I came across this quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson today: "Always do what you are afraid to do." I have been so incredibly blessed through working at The Haven shelter. I cannot believe that I spoke for an hour and a half today, nearly non-stop about my story, overcoming tragedy, making ends meet, creative budgeting, etc etc... I had such a great time. There were a couple people who were almost crying (maybe because I was talking so much). I got to meet the new families today and they were all so friendly and receptive. I feel very favored to get to share my experiences with them and to have an opportunity to get to be a small part of their lives. They are great people and we are blessed have them as part of our community. Don't run from fear. Face it head on. Rely on God's strength to get you through when you don't think you can do it... or even when it is ACTUALLY impossible for you to do it (Anybody who knows me, knows that I am decidedly NOT a public speaker). What a thrilling thing to overcome fear and be able to be part of something God's doing. What a huge amount of grace that is in my life.
Save your fear for God, who holds your entire life—body and soul—in his hands.

I love this post :) I can just imagine the smile on God's face and you stood in front of those people and told your story! Gives me hope that I can manage to speak 15 minutes about web & graphic design resources for churches at the upcoming Excel conference. ~Joy
